Ariba posts quarterly loss

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Ariba Inc. after the closing bell Thursday reported a second-quarter loss of $6.9 million, or 11 cents a share, compared to a loss of $831,000, or 2 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue for the quarter was $81.3 million, compared with $56 million in 2004. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had forecast second-quarter earnings of 7 cents a share on revenue of $81 million.
